Raudaschl Wine Tools

First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the late Count Erwein Matuschka-Greiffenclau, who has been my greatest inspiration in the world of wine. His extensive knowledge and teachings have deeply impacted me, and I will forever cherish the invaluable experience I gained during the two years I had the privilege of working with him. It is with great honor that I have shared this knowledge by conducting seminars for sommelier associations across Europe and Asia in the past.

Thank you, Graf, for everything.

Having passionately enjoyed wine for many years and savored it from various glasses, I felt compelled to create the Wine Tool.
Introducing Corpo Sonoro, which means “body of resonance or sound” in Italian. It comprises five distinct glasses designed to enhance your wine experience. These glasses are:

1. Simple:

With just five different glasses, you have everything you need to enjoy red, rosé, white, dessert, and sparkling wines.

2. Effective:

Corpo Sonoro maximizes the delivery of aromas to your nose with its innovative design. The larger surface areas of the glasses positively influence the changes in phenolic compounds, ensuring an enhanced sensory experience.

3. Consistent:

All Corpo Sonoro Glasses, except for the Piccolo, share the same mouth dimensions. This consistent design ensures a uniform distribution of aromas to your nose, making it easier and more consistent to evaluate and appreciate your wines.

4. Easy to understand:

When opening a bottle of wine, it is customary for sommeliers to pour it into a glass to assess its aroma, taste, and any potential faults or the need for decanting. Similarly, Corpo Sonoro facilitates this process. If you have a young, edgy, tannin-rich wine, you can choose the Basso or Cello glasses. For a wine approaching its peak, the Alto or Cello glasses are ideal. And for mature wines that have aged gracefully, the Violino or Alto glasses are the perfect choice.

5. Exclusive:

Every single Corpo Sonoro glass is meticulously crafted using mouth-blown, lead-free crystal clear glass. This artisanal process ensures that each glass is unique, making them one-of-a-kind pieces. These slight variations are an inherent part of our artistic craftsmanship.

6. Fun:

Once you start using Corpo Sonoro, you will find it difficult to drink from any other wine glass. These glasses offer an unparalleled wine-drinking experience by allowing maximum expression of the wine’s qualities. They bring out the best and the worst in a wine, intensifying the characteristics of a light white wine with a subtle bouquet. Should your wine have any faults, they become apparent even before your first sip. Many users have described the experience as “nasal pleasure times TEN.”

In conclusion, Corpo Sonoro Wine Tools combine elegance, functionality, and innovation to elevate your wine enjoyment to new heights. Indulge in the artistry of wine appreciation with our carefully crafted glasses and unlock the full potential of your favorite wines.

7. Idea:

In order to ensure a consistent approach, I have designed a wineglass shape that effectively concentrates the bouquet and aroma of wines, while maintaining optimal drinking comfort. This endeavor involved significant time and financial investment to determine the ideal shape that would complement all types of wines. Although each wine is unique, they share common elements such as alcohol content, bouquet, color, and taste, to varying degrees.

Corpo Sonoro presents two distinct shapes to cater to different wine types:

Sparkling wineglass shape

Wineglass shape

That’s all there is to it.

The key difference lies in the volume of these glasses. For instance, pouring the same amount of red wine into each of the four different glasses will yield distinct taste experiences over a short period of time. By incorporating varying volumes, we do not directly affect the taste itself, but rather influence the wine’s overall characteristics.

Since I started using Corpo Sonoro, I rarely find the need to decant wine. Why is that? Well, consider the typical size of a decanter, which ranges between 1 and 1.5 liters. When you pour a 0.75-liter bottle of wine into it, the wine only occupies about 50 to 75% of the decanter’s volume. This allows for some initial changes, mostly because the pouring interaction of wine and air, but there is limited oxygen left to continue the phenolic transformation.

Now, let’s compare that to pouring a standard glass of wine, around 200ml, into the Basso glass, which can hold 1100ml. In this case, the wine only takes up 19 percent of the glass’s capacity. This means there is a significant amount of exposure to the air, resulting in notable effects on the wine.

The only valid reasons to decant would be You want to enjoy very young tannic wine, large format bottles or to separate any sediments. However, thanks to the design of the Corpo Sonoro glass, even sediments are not a concern as they remain trapped in the glass and do not reach your mouth.

To truly make the most of your Corpo Sonoro glasses, ensure that you serve wines at the appropriate temperatures. For example, a high-alcohol Australian red with 14% alcohol served at 24ºC can overwhelm your senses, akin to a bowl of freshly grated horseradish. Alcohol is volatile, and the higher the temperature, the more prominent its presence becomes in your nose. That’s why we often associate drinking red wines at room temperature. However, room temperatures can vary, but a good rule of thumb is around 18ºC. If you’re dealing with a wine from a hot climate region with high alcohol content, I suggest serving it at 16ºC.

It is easy to comprehend why Raudaschl Wine Tools, particularly the Corpo Sonoro glasses, are highly effective in enhancing your wine experience.

I wish you a lovely time with Corpo Sonoro and know you will enjoy it thoroughly,
just like I do.
